Process & Details

The HBPA of Ontario will act as an advocate for current AGCO licensed thoroughbred Owners and/or Trainers who have received a positive test result during the mandatory AGCO testing.

Members seeking representation must sign a Split Sample form which allows representatives from the HBPA of Ontario to act on the Member’s behalf when dealing with the AGCO and/or the CPMA.

A benefit of the HBPA membership is we will pay, up to $800, for a one time test re-evaluation. We has access to experts in the field of equine medications that will help with the re-evaluation process and provide opinions based on the facts of the case and precedents set in similar cases.

The HBPA then requests a split sample analysis of the alleged positive be completed by an independent, accredited laboratory. When the results of the split sample analysis are received, if the positive is confirmed, the HBPA will represent Members at appeals and hearings. Having the HBPA of Ontario represent you during hearings means you have a partner who can assist you through what can often be a confusing and complex process.
