The backstretch recently lost two unique human beings, Art Knowles and Dale Price. Both were outstanding horsemen and both were graduates from the Old School of Horsemanship with advanced degrees in responsibility, caring and love for the thoroughbred and the sport it competes in. Both came to the backstretch in an era when knowledge and skills were passed down by people who had spent a lifetime acquiring them to those who were willing to pay attention and work hard to learn them. No corners cut, no slacking. Art and Dale were very much in the same place with regard to their approach to horses and how to do right by them.
